Complaints from Children

Submitted September 1, 2004
I'm "older" child of two wonderful people but not yet considered "seniors". My complaint, as a child, is not regarding my aging parents, its towards other children of aging parents. Its really sad to see as their parents age and become helpless or just in the need of some assitance, right away "most" children ship them off to a "home". Not wanting to be bothered, only to see their parents as a visitor on certain days. My parents gave me life, taught me well, helped me through tough times (emothional, school, work, money, etc), bought me the clothes I wore, a roof over my head and food in my mouth. When that time comes and my parents need my me, you know I will be there for them. It will be difficult to watch my parents fade but atleast it will be me to see not some stranger. It wouldn't want a "stranger" to share the balance of their existinance. To think that their last memories would be of you and what you may do for them in a way to Thank them. All children should think it over before sending your parents off, it is a sad thing. For those who do, thats a "fine" way to "thank" your parents for all the things THEY have done for YOU!!
